Men’s & Ladies’ 2014 Club Event Schedule

The events listed below describe the basic rules and concept for each event. More details will be available prior to each event and the game will be outlined at each Thursday Night Pairing Party. While the games are designed for both the Men’s Club and Ladies’ Club to play in, formats may vary between the groups for certain events. While every possible effort will be made to follow the schedule below, the Golf Shop staff does reserve the right to change dates or formats if needed.

 

Welcome Back!
Saturday, February 22nd
8:00 a.m. Shotgun

The first event of the 2014 season will be a 4 person step back scramble. Teams will be made up of an A, B, C and D player. All players will start off by playing their designated tees. If the team makes a birdie, all players must tee off on the next hole from one tee box back. If the team makes a bogey, all players must move up one tee box. If a team makes a par, all players will tee off on the same tee box as the previous hole. The game will be paid out based on the team gross score. Skins will be paid to the team for gross skins only.

 

Captain’s Pick
Sunday, March 2nd
8:00 a.m. Shotgun

Captains will randomly be drawn at the Thursday Night Pairing party. The captains will then take turns picking their teams. Each team must be made up of an A, B, C, and D player. The format for the game will be a 2 net best ball of the four players. The game will be paid out based on the team net score. Skins will be paid individually for gross and net skins.

 

March Madness Classic
Sunday, March 30th
8:00 a.m. Shotgun

Like the teams competing in the NCAA tournament, these two-man teams will try and score as many points as they can in this net best ball stableford scoring format. There will be 2 flights for the daily game. A players will be paired with B players, and C players will be paired with D players. The game will be paid out based on the team net score. Skins will be paid individually for gross and net skins.

 

The Masters Challenge
Saturday, April 12th
8:00 a.m. Shotgun

Players will randomly draw to be paired up with a professional playing in the Masters Tournament. At the Thursday night pairing party, SS 200 members will have the opportunity to pick the player they would like to be paired up for the weekend.

Once a professional is chosen, they will no longer be available. Flights will be created and players will use their total net score from Saturdays round along with their professionals score from Saturday to give them a total team score. The game will be paid out based on the team net score. Skins will be paid individually for gross and net skins.

There will be an optional $10 cash only game for players who choose to pick any player in the field (professionals may be chosen more than once). The Professionals score from SUNDAY will be added to the members score from SATURDAY to give a team score.

 

Dinero Pelota
Sunday, May 4th
8:00 a.m. Shotgun

In honor of Cinco de Mayo, the format for today will be Dinero Pelota or Money Ball. In this 4 person game, each team will be given a “money ball” that must be rotated throughout the team members on each hole. The team must count the money ball score plus the low net score from the remaining three players to get the team score for each hole. The money ball must be returned to the Golf Shop after the round. If a team loses the money ball, they will have 5 strokes added to their overall score. The game will be paid out based on the team net score. Skins will be paid individually for gross and
net skins.

 

2-Man Best Ball
Sunday, June 1st
8:00 a.m. Shotgun

In this 2 man net best ball players will compete in their respective flights. Players will be broken into two flights based on the total combined team 6 month low index. The game will be paid out based on the team net score. Skins will be paid individually for gross and net skins.

 

The US Open Challenge
Saturday, June 14th
8:00 a.m. Shotgun

Just as the pros will be facing their toughest challenge of the year, so will the SS 200 members in this Tip and Tuck event. All members will move back a tee box and be forced to attack some of the toughest pin locations the ‘Stone has to offer. Players will compete in their respective flights against each other to see who can survive the challenge. The game will be paid out based on individual net score. Skins will be paid individually for gross and net skins.

There will be an optional $10 cash only game for players who choose to pick any player in the field (professionals may be chosen more than once). The Professionals score from SUNDAY will be added to the members score from SATURDAY to give a team score.

4 Person 1-2-3
Saturday, June 28th
8:00 a.m. Shotgun

In this 4 person net best ball teams must count 1 low net score on all par 5’s, 2 lowest net scores on all Par 4’s, and 3 lowest net scores on all Par 3’s. Captains will be drawn during the Thursday night pairing party and teams must be made up of an A, B, C and D player. The game will be paid out based on the team net score. Skins will be paid individually for gross and net skins.

 

The Open Challenge
Saturday, July 19th
8:00 a.m. Shotgun

Players will compete in this individual format within their respective flights. The game will be paid out based on net score. Skins will be paid individually for gross and net skins.

There will be an optional $10 cash only game for players who choose to pick any player in the field (professionals may be chosen more than once). The Professionals score from SUNDAY will be added to the members score from SATURDAY to give a team score.

 

The PGA Championship Challenge
Saturday, August 9th
8:00 a.m. Shotgun

Players will compete in this individual format within their respective flights. The game will be paid out based on net score. Skins will be paid individually for gross and net skins.

There will be an optional $10 cash only game for players who choose to pick any player in the field (professionals may be chosen more than once). The Professionals score from SUNDAY will be added to the members score from SATURDAY to give a team score.

 

Pick Your Poison
Sunday, August 24th
8:00 a.m. Shotgun

These 2 man teams must “pick their poison” to see if they can come out on top. Players must play exactly 6 holes from each set of tees. Players may choose prior to teeing off on each hole and partners do not have to play the same set of tees on each hole. Players will only receive a handicap stroke if they play the appropriate set of tees to receive that stroke. The game will be paid out based on the team net score. Skins will be paid individually for gross and net skins.

 

4-Man Best Ball Blind Draw
Saturday, September 13th
8:00 a.m. Shotgun

In this 4 man net best ball players will compete in their respective flights. While on the golf course, the Golf Shop staff will blind draw 9 holes in which teams must count two scores. The game will be paid out based on the team net score. Skins will be paid individually for gross and net skins.

 

Ryder Cup Challenge
Sunday, September 28th
8:00 a.m. Shotgun

This Ryder Cup format will match up the A & D players to take on the B & C players to see who can take home the Ryder Cup Challenge. The teams will play one 18 hole match with 3 possible points per match. The 18 hole match will be split in to two 9 hole matches. The first 9 holes will be played as 2 man best ball. The second 9 holes will be played as individual match play. The flights who score the most points will win and only teams from that flight will be paid out for the game money. Skins will be paid individually for gross and net skins.

 

4-Person Blind Draw
Saturday, November 15th
8:00 a.m. Shotgun

Players will play in 4 man teams in this net format. While on the golf course, the Golf Shop will blind draw 9 holes in which teams must count 2 net best balls for the team score. For the other 9 holes, teams will count the lowest individual net score. The game will be paid out based on the team net score. Skins will be paid individually for gross and net skins.

 

Holiday Finale
Saturday, December 6th
8:00 a.m. Shotgun

To wrap up the year, players will compete in this individual game to determine who will be the The Best of the Best. The game will be paid out based on the individual net score. Skins will be paid individually for gross and net skins.
