Local Rules

Each event will have its own rules sheet to outline the rules specific to the game. The following course rules apply for all Silverstone 200 Member events, unless stated otherwise by the individual event rules. Players are responsible for reading the rules prior to each event and should contact the professional staff with any questions prior to play. Standard USGA rules apply, except as provided in the exceptions and local rules below:

• Ruling questions: If you’re not sure what to do or have a disagreement with a playing partner, you may play two balls (one for each rules interpretation) and resolve the matter by discussing the situation with the Golf Shop after the round.
• Players may obtain distance information by using a device that measures distance only. If, during a stipulated round, a player uses a distance-measuring device that is designed to gauge or measure other conditions that might affect his play (i.e. gradient, wind speed, temperature, etc.), the player is in breach of Rule 14-3, for which the penalty is disqualification, regardless of whether any such additional function is actually used.
• Lateral water hazards are indicated by red stakes and/or painted lines. When present, lines determine the boundary of the hazard, and the line is part of the hazard. When no lines are present, stakes determine the boundary of the hazard and are also deemed to be in the hazard. If neither stakes nor lines are present, the natural definition of the hazard is used to define the hazard.
• Cracks in the earth: If a player’s ball comes to rest in a crack in the earth (rut) that has clearly been caused by water run-off, and the player’s ball rests a minimum of half way below the surface of the earth, the player may treat that crack as ground under repair.

“Through the green, a ball that comes to rest in a crack in the earth that is at least 1” deep, and the ball rests at least half way below the surface of the earth, the ball may be lifted without penalty, cleaned and dropped as near as possible to the earth, to the spot where it lay but not nearer the hole. The ball when dropped must first strike a part of the course through the green.”

• Stones more than ¼ inch diameter in bunkers are movable obstructions.
  Rule 24-1 applies – stones may be removed without penalty.
• Old mesh netting used for sod reinforcement shall be defined as a temporary immovable obstruction. A player may lift and drop the ball without penalty, no nearer the hole, and within one club length of the nearest point of relief, if the old turf mesh may interfere with his/her stance or area of intended swing. If the ball rests in a hazard, the ball must be dropped in the hazard.
• Areas in the grass that are bare or have been aerated and top dressed (heavy sand or seed on top of the grass) may be played as ground under repair.

• Drainage Areas – Free relief from drains and the large rocks in the areas; this includes all ruts filled in with rocks.
• Tree well/stake – free relief if stance/swing affected by well/stake, not just tree.
• Rocks – Around lakes – part of the hazard. Along cart path – play as cart path.
• A score should be posted for every player for every hole.
• Maximum score is net 9 on any hole; please pick up once you reach the limit.
• Pace of play – starting time and ending times must be recorded on scorecard.
